Once again this April I will be joining others in the annual online event Blogging from A-to-Z Challenge that invites bloggers to write their way through the alphabet. Given my penchant for abecedariums, I find it impossible to resist. This will be my be my seventh year playing, and as always I’m looking forward to it.
We’ve been encouraged to “reveal” our theme – what we’ll be spending the month of April writing about. Since I’m a logophile (a lover of words), I’ll be foundationing my posts around words that delight me.
I’ll be sharing my thoughts and reflections on a lexicon (vocabulary specific to a certain subject) of unusual, obscure, or simply charming-to-me words. Ludic is defined as “playful, in an aimless way” and that’s my plan for approaching this challenge – keeping my feet on the joy trail and meandering wherever the daily word takes me. Hence I’m aptly naming my theme a Ludic Lexicon.
I’ll be giving you peeks into who I am and what captures my fancy, and perhaps you’ll find an enchanting word or two you’ll want to claim as well.
I hope you’ll consider playing in the challenge too. I look forward to reading my way through the alphabet on an endless variety of topics via a myriad of bloggers. There’s still time to join here, and you know I’d love to read your abecedarium.
I look forward to your words, I learned quite a few new ones in previous challenges.
I’m looking forward to your posts as well Lisa. And kudos to you for doing double duty. We’ll be having double the pleasure as a result no doubt.
Look forward to being introduced to some new words! 🙂
Hope you find some that delight you Iain. And I’m looking forward to reading your series.
Oooooh! Sound fun!
Thanks for commenting on the Art Blog.
I expect we’ll be having a fun April Anne.
I love words too, and always learn so many new ones from your challenges. 🙂 I thought I had a better vocabulary than I do!
LOL – there’s always room to learn more isn’t there? And you know I love to dip into the obsolete ones in hopes of reclaiming them for current use.
Yay! Love your words.
Thanks Janet. Here’s to having a fun April.

Always love your A-Z’s, Deborah, so will be checking each one out! I am joining in again this year, but on MY TAKE instead of Doses of Wild YAM. Mainly because this will allow me to be posted and scheduled before the mayhem starts, to give space for reading others!!! YAM xx
Smart move! And I’m glad you’re going to participate this year – looking forward to your posts.
Oh, I love this! Nice, Deborah. Looking forward to it.
Thanks!
Ooooo! I look forward to your A to Z posts and learning which words delight you… chances are they will delight me, too!
Thanks Trudy. I love how packed full of goodness April is with all the wonderful participants and their blogging magic.
Oooh, I love words as well, so this will be fun. Don’t you think abecedarium sounds like some magical spell?
It does sound like a magical spell! And how perfect there will be so many created during April. 🙂
It looks like you are going to be having some fun here for the challenge! I’m looking forward to your posts.
Thanks Martha. I always find the challenge fun, and really look forward to all the interesting creative blogging that fills April.
Lexicon of A-Z words. Now that sounds like fun. I love learning new and interesting words.
I love April for all the wonderful and interesting and fun things I learn. I always feel smarter come May. 🙂
looking forward to your posts this will be my 4th year. I have always done mine on words. 🙂
Looking forward to playing again this year Gina, and hope we all have a wonderful time as usual.
Hi Deborah – I love the way you approach the challenge – I’ll enjoy your entries … I’m not doing it – stay safe – all the best – Hilary
I certainly understand your decision not to do the challenge Hilary, but it’s fun to see your writing whenever you post. Stay safe and be happy!
Deborah,
I can use all the help I can get when it comes to words. Although your post will surely introduce me to some interesting and cool words I am terrible at actually incorporating them into my life. Perhaps, I should jot the captivating ones down to better commit them to memory and figure out ways to include them into my writing. Here’s to another year of A2Zing. Thanks for stopping in to learn about my theme. I’ll see you around the Blogosphere block in April. Good luck, my dear!
Thanks Cathy – looking forward to seeing your series.
I love words as well. I like finding new words (new to me, that is), archaic ones, and then go full-blown Shakespeare and create my own.
Looking forward to reading your upcoming entrees.
Sounds like we’re kindred spirits in our word love Stuart.
I love this idea! I used to have a word of the day screensaver and wrote down some of the words I’d never heard or really liked the definitions of. Looking forward to learning more from you!

A daily exposure to new words is a fun thing, and I really love it when I find a word that feels like a treasure. Looking forward to a great April and your series as well Allison.
Doing this again! Good for you. I look forward to popping in to see what words do it for you.
Thanks Ally – hopefully you’ll find a few that delight you as well.
It’s going to be a fun challenge this year again! Great theme, I love the idea to read a ludic lexicon!
I think it’s going to be a fun challenge this year as well Frédérique – can’t wait.
Interesting theme.
Yours as well Yinglan. Hopefully we’ll have a wonderful April finding out lots about our fellow bloggers.
I’m going to enjoy this. In 2016 my theme was neglected, forgotten and dictionary-deleted words! Have fun.
Love that Keith. Here’s to a fun April for all of us.
Oooh! This sounds like fun! Words can be so fascinating. Normally, they are fascinating and hide mysterious stories 🙂

The Old Shelter – Theme Reveal – The Great War
I like to think of words as little sparks of magic. Looking forward to being infused with lots of magic from lots of people in April. 🙂
Sounds interesting and educational for vocabulary growth. Can’t wait to follow along.
Thanks. I look forward to your series as well.
This sounds like fun! I look forward to learning new words–which will hopefully delight me as well! 🙂
I’d be delighted if you found some of the words I share delightful. 🙂
Words are the writer’s toolbox, and my toolbox needs some refreshing. I look forward to seeing the words that bring you joy.
I like the idea of refreshing one’s toolbox. I sort of feel that way about the entire challenge. I come away from April both exhausted and wildly inspired by all the wonderful things people share. May we all have fun!
I always enjoy your words, Deborah. Looking forward to what you offer us this year!
Black and White: Theme Reveal
Thanks Anne. Here’s to a wonderful challenge!
I love words too; I’m looking forward to reading more about the words that delight you 🙂
I’m looking forward to your series as well Regina. Have fun with the challenge.
This is a very unusual and exciting theme! I’m looking forward to reading all about your words!
Thanks. I appreciate you stopping by and hope you have a wonderful time in the challenge as well.
I love this idea. I too love words, although from a different point of loving their history and the tracing of them to their roots in earlier languages. I’m the kind of person who owns a dictionary of reconstructed PIE word roots.
I enjoyed finding these posts yesterday and will be continuing this month.
