Happy July! This is one of my favorite months, not the least of which is because it’s my birthday month. Yes, that is correct – a single day is not enough time to celebrate. I require an entire month. And at the end of the month I’ll consider if I want to further extend this into birthday season, an entirely delightful concept I was recently introduced to.
But in any case I’ve decided I like the Hobbit’s tradition of giving presents on their birthday, and so I’ve come up with my own give-away plan.
Here’s the deal:
I’ve put together four packages of themed things (some of them very gently used but still in wonderful condition that I’m ready to release) which I’ll list below. If you’d like to throw your name in the hat for one or more of them, leave a comment indicating which one(s) you’re interested in. I’ll pull names out of the hat on 7/31 and pop the packages off to the winners wrapped and beribboned as all gifts should be. I’m willing to post outside of the U.S. so feel free to enter wherever you might be living.
One caveat before we begin. I have lots of skills but photography is not one of them. I’m a point and shoot and hope for the best, and if it takes a whole lot more effort than that I’m just not interested. So while I could spend more time taking better photos of what I’m offering that moves it out of the fun category for me. And let me be clear – this is all about the fun! So here we go.
Gift #1: The Oracle Gathering
I’m ready to release four very gently used decks: The Enchanted Tarot, Shadowscapes, Symbolon, and Carolyn Myss Archetype Cards. As with all the gifts, I’ll enclose an additional surprise or two because that makes it all the more fun.
Gift #2: Colorful
Want to explore color a bit more? Maybe this oh-so-gently used kit needs to make its way to you. The sparkly butterfly pin wants to come along as well – it’s a delightfully bohemian vintage celluloid body that’s been glued to brass backing. Other colorful surprises will be included.
Gift #3: Handy
I know there are other hand lovers/collectors out there – ready to add a few more to your collection? Let’s start with this 4-inch milagro-esque silver colored beauty. It has an integrated hanging loop so you can turn it into a pendant if you’d like or perhaps just add a ribbon. It’s always good to have an extra hand available. This package will also include a hand keychain, a few hand charms, and a copy of my long out-of-print and recently re-discovered zine Handsel. I know you want a copy!
Gift #4: Journal Jamboree
The heart of this gift is an lovely unused Rag and Bone journal. The pages measure 5.5 x 8.5 inches. I’ve used these for years and my journals are usually filled with writing, glued in bits, sketches, light washes. This package will also include another notebook or two and some unnamed surprises as well.
So there you have it. If one of more of these let’s-celebrate-July gifts appeals to you leave a comment with the number to be entered in the drawing. Winners will be announced 7/31.
Of course even if you’re not interested in the giveaway I welcome comments, so please feel free to leave one. What’s your favorite month? Have a special way you like to celebrate birthdays? What sorts of thing do you collect. Do tell – you know I love to hear.
I’d like for you to add my name in the #1 “oracle gathering” pot. If there’s more Charlotte’s entering, then just add a W to my name ^^
Thanks a lot for this opportunity. <3
My pleasure Charlotte. In your name goes.
Well you are just full of surprises, and a whole lot of spunk, I must say! And I would also like to be entered into Surprise # 1, The Oracle Package!
P.S. I don’t do birthdays anymore…ha ha. My kids are getting older, but I REFUSE!!!
Aloha
LOL. I’m not sure I could do it Vicki – stop aging but give up on birthday celebrations! But I love your plan of out-younging your kids. And in your name goes in the oracle hat.
The Journal package sounds like the best bet–I have birthdays coming up that such would be good for.
This year I combined my birthday celebration with my graduation celebration.
Double-duty celebrations are fun. And I’m happy to put your name in the journal hat.
I would love a copy of your Handsel and the extra hand is always handy. I am a July baby also. My birthday is on the 16th, when is yours?
I’ve got to hand it to you – good choice. 🙂 In your name goes. And early birthday wishes to you. I hope you’re adopting my full-month celebration protocol. My birthday is July 2.
What a generous offer, Deborah. I was immediately drawn to number four, because a word nerd can never have too many journals, but something about number two is calling to me as well, so I’m going to be greedy and opt for two entries. Thank you so much for this opportunity – and especially for including us foreigners!
Yay Sarah. My philosophy is never to hold back opening to the possibility of receiving what you want! So in your name goes into two hats.
May I be among the first to wish you a Happy Birthday/Birthmonth!
You certainly may. 🙂 And thank you!
Hello dear Deborah, happy birthday/month to you!! You sound like you’re all set up for a wonderful month, so enjoy! Your gifts all look very interesting and special, I would be interested in either the #1 or #2, I would let you decide which one, they both look interesting.
I wish you well,
hugs
Kat
Thanks for the kind wishes Kat. In your name goes in hat #1 and #2 – good luck!
What a fabulous idea…..and “Happy Birthday”!
Thanks Debbie!
Oh Deborah, I love your way of thinking, and am so grateful to be in with a chance of having an unbirthday gift from you. I would very much like to put my name in the hat for #2 Colourful and #4 Journal Jamboree 😀 I have been using a journal/sketchbook for just over a year and have recently started a love affair with watercolours, be they pans, liquid or pencil, and need to learn about colours, so they are the reasons behind my choices.
My favourite month is October, because that is when the colours in the trees really start to turn and look like mini sunsets fluttering in the wind.
I’m a bit of a horader, I have to admit. I don’t buy collections, like ornaments or jewellery, I just don’t discard much. I hang on to my craft magazines, my National Geographics, my New Scientist magazines. why? Because sure as eggs is eggs, if I get rid, I will need to read about something, lol. So I hang on to them.
Wishing you a wonderful birthday month, full of fun and happy birthday wishes 😀
ps – your pay it forward postcard is on it’s way 😀
Love your beautiful description of October Mo! I’ve often wondered about what seems to be some kind of perverse universal law that once something is properly gone is precisely when you need it. 🙂
I’m happy to add your name to the respective hats in the draw. And enjoy your watercolor love!
What a Fun idea Deborah! I love the idea of giving gifts on my birthday, I might try this in December:) I would like to put my name in for 2 packages if possible, the journal and the Color Intuition. Happy Birthday Deborah!
I’m happy to slip your name in both hats Nancy. And thanks for the b-day wishes.
Wow! So much fun here! I LOVE color so I’d love to put my name in that pot 🙂 xoxo
Popped in the pot you are Michele.
Happy birthday month, Deborah. What a generous offering. I’d forgotten that part about the Hobbits.
I’d like to be in the pot for The Oracles. Haven’t done that sort of thing in awhile, but it’s calling me again.
Oh wonderful Linda – I’ll add your name. And thanks for the kind wishes.
What a fun (and kind) thing to do on your birthday month! I’d love to be thrown into the hat! xxxooo
I love presents!!
Shari 🙂
Happy to add your name Shari.
What a lovely idea Deborah – have a very happy birthday month 🙂 Would you put me in the hat for either the hands or the journals? All sound lovely. And thanks for putting us non Americans into the pile 🙂
By the way, I’ve put up my pay it forward blog here just in case you fancy throwing in your name.
Fil
Thanks for the b-day wishes Fil, and it will be my pleasure to put your name in the hands hat and the journal hat. And I will most definitely pop over to your blog for some pay-it-forward fun.
wishing you a lovely birthday
and beginning to your beautiful new year!
Thank you!
