Today in Reverb15 Kat McNally invites us to consider this prompt:
“One of my daughter’s favourite books is the American classic Harold and the Purple Crayon. If you haven’t had the good fortune to come across it, it’s about a little lad called Harold, whose magical purple crayon enables him to create the world around him.
Whenever I read it to her as a bedtime story, I spend the rest of the evening pondering what I would create if I had a magical purple crayon of my own.
Imagine one such crayon would be bestowed upon you on New Year’s Eve 2015: what would you draw to ensure 2016 had everything you need?”
Oh I do love a crayon. Especially if it’s in one of those BIG boxes with all my favorite colors – periwinkle and heather and seafoam green. Starting with sharp points and pristine wrappers, and eventually working their way down to little stubs. It always delights me thinking about how much I’ve colored my world – there have been a LOT of crayons in my history.
But if I happened to have that magical purple crayon, I’d definitely color in my 2016 with: Love. Kindness. My beautiful divinely-guided business. Abundance. Vitality. Joy. Divine connection. Creativity. Dear friendships.
And if I had that crayon, I’d continue on. I’ve never been very good at, nor particularly interested in visioning where I want to be in 5 or 10 years. But a while ago I was invited to envision what I’d like to see in 100 years. Now that’s something I can get into.
I was surprised to discover that knowing what my vision is, how much that made room for me to find ways to uphold those things in my current life. I should have known that, and I suppose I did – that’s really what the work of discovering and living your values is all about isn’t it? So many of us do that on a much shorter-term level when we choose (or are chosen by) our guiding word for the new year. We invoke our energetic address and then see how it unfolds as we hold that energy. Such magic there!
In my case, I’d use that purple crayon to draw my 100-year vision.
I envision a world where:
All beings are operating with conscious connection to Source and embodying their Divinity.
Unity consciousness and celebration of diversity are the foundational principles that are expressed fully as harmony, peace, love, and joy.
There is equitable sharing of resources and unified commitment to caring for the Earth.
Gratitude, beauty, grace, kindness, and inspired action are everyday currencies and all beings know they are greatly loved and infinitely supported.
Having drawn all that, I’m ready to turn over the magic purple crayon to you. What would you like to draw for your 2016? What about beyond that? Do tell – you know I love to hear.
Deborah, what a wonderful rich blue image–or is periwinkle–you have here with your blogpost today! It fills me with joy to visit your page and see how fulfilling your life is and how expansive are your dreams. Yes to conscious connection, to sharing resources and currencies of the spirit!
What kind words Hallelujah – thank you.
Hi Deborah – I’d definitely colour my world … kind, and rainbow coloured, peopled with thoughtful souls, thinking of their elders and the next generations … that 7 generations deep so the world is always protected …
Wonderful thoughts … cheers Hilary
How beautiful Hilary!
You have created lovely world and I hope we do not have to wait a whole century to see it.
And, to tell you the truth, I would love to wake up on the New Year’s Day with a purple crayon in my hand. I would give myself happy, healthy and fruitful surroundings so I can be happy, healthy and prosperous.
Here’s to a happy, healthy, prosperous 2016 and beyond Evalina!
Thank you my dear Deborah! Somehow I have a feeling that 2016 will be just that – happy, healthy and prosperous. Smiles.
