Happy Earth Day! I hope you’re finding some way to celebrate that makes you and our dear planet feel good.
I did some gardening, and am delighted to report my Bleeding Heart plants are in bloom. They are always such a welcome sign for me that the blooming season here is officially underway. This year I’m hoping to co-create an essence with these lovely blossoms.
But all my gardening today was small in nature. There was no actual tree planting which seems like such a proverbially good way to mark the day. So I’ll do my planting by proxy with a donation to Plant a Billion Trees. The name inspires a pretty amazing vision doesn’t it? It’s certainly one I want to be part of.
If you leave a comment and tell me what you’re up to or how you’ve observed Earth Day in the past, I’ll put your name in my lucky drawing hat. If I pull your name I’ll send a copy of my 2010 limited-edition Earth Day zine. This year I’ve dedicated the issue to those amazing creatures Bees. Where would we (and all the plants) be without these winged little superheros?
It was nice that you were able to do some gardening today. I was at work all day, but spent my lunch in a beginning tai chi class, getting a feel for it. The beginning moves really work on connecting t the Earth Mother. It felt very good.
I was able to spend a little time outdoors tonight. It was actually warmer this evening than at noon (at least it felt that way). I walked and looked to see how things are doing.
Lilies of the Valley are popping up. My Russian Sage is doing very well. Daisies and Foxglove are doing well and the prairie we planted a few years ago is looking pretty good.
It was nice to simply walk and enjoy. It just feels good to be outside, smelling the air, listening to the birds, and relaxing.
Thanks for coming by and commenting Katie. The tai chi class sounds like a great way to celebrate our interconnectedness with this beautiful planet and all the energies on it! And I agree it’s so lovely to just get out and observe what’s happening. My Lilies of the Valley are only just beginning to push up leaves and my Russian Sage is looking more than a bit winter-worn right now. But hopefully a few more warm days will turn things around.
I just wanted to comment that I have already received a copy of your lovely beezine and it is full of all sorts of poems, facts, serious and fun info about our friends, the bees, and it has all kinds of elaborate folds and little pockets. So I heartily encourage your readers to leave a comment so they have a chance to receive one of their own.
My Earth Day celebrating wasn’t really very earthy at all but we had a “green” fair at work and, of course, I dressed in green and brown and wore leaf earrings…my small homage to the day’s festivities.
Thanks for the endorsement and spreading the bee love! And I love that you dressed for the day. If I had a bee costume I probably would have worn it. 😉
