Today’s KIOS blog-a-thon meme is all about color.
[ RED ]
What’s the first thing you think of when you think of red? Pomegranates. Root chakra. Poppies. (Sorry my mind shot me 3 simultaneous images).
Closest red thing to you? The cover of my mini ipad.
What is the last thing that made you angry? Having my computer go all glitchy and lose a long document I was working on that turned out to be irretreviable. Sigh.
Are you a fan of romance? Most certainly.
Do you have a temper? Not particularly.
[ GREEN ]
What’s the first thing you think of when you think of green? That unmistakable color of new leaves in Spring.
Closest green thing to you? I’m wearing a moss green shirt embroidered with flowers. Love me my flowers!
What’s your favourite green environment? A garden – any garden.
Are you jealous of anyone right now? No.
Are you a lucky person? Very. As I often sing, because I’m one of those people who sing little ditties all day long, “I’m lucky in life, and life is lucky in me.” And that always makes me smile. I like win/win situations.
[ PURPLE ]
What’s the first thing you think of when you think of purple? Violets.
Closest purple thing to you? A lovely chunk of amethyst crystal.
Do you like being treated like royalty? Hmm. I don’t actually enjoy being the center of attention, so being paid attention to like royalty would send me into hiding. And I’m much more in favor of equalizing conditions between people rather than strengthening hierarchies. But having said that I do like lush, opulent things. I just think we should all have them.
Do you like mysterious things? Absolutely! I think the world is an utterly wonderful, mysterious place and it delights me endlessly.
Are you intuitive? Yes. It’s one of my superpowers.
[ BLUE ]
What’s the first thing you think of when you think of blue? Lapis.
Closest blue thing to you? A blue legal pad.
Are you good at calming people down? Yes. I’m naturally slow-moving and have cultivated a deep sense of serenity that people find calming. I also spent years working on a crisis hot-line so I have those skills honed as well.
What’s your favourite body of water (i.e. lake, ocean, etc)? If I had to choose I think I’d pick the Pacific Ocean, particularly near Big Sur. But locally, I love Lake Michigan, and nothing delights me more than watching the waves. My brother has a home on a river and I love that as well. I literally feel myself dial down several notches when I’m by the river. And of course my most commonly-loved body of water is my bath tub. Liquid alchemy at the turn of a faucet.
What was the last thing that made you cry? I had a real cry fest cutting onions the other night. I never quite understood why some onions are so pungent while others aren’t. But I’m an onion lover and if the price is a few tears now and then I’m totally on board. With respect to real emotional tears, they came with the loss of a friend.
Are you a logical thinker? Not particularly. Spock would be disappointed in my skills.
[ YELLOW ]
What’s the first thing you think of when you think of yellow? Daffodils.
Closest yellow thing to you? A mala of natural citrine beads which is sitting on my prosperity altar.
What was one of the happiest times of your life? When I began my business.
What’s your favourite holiday? Oh that’s way difficult – I love celebrating all kinds of holidays both common and obscure. But if forced to choose, the Spring Equinox is a fave. I was married on the vernal equinox and that’s when I celebrate my anniversary each year, despite that the actual date varies.
What makes you happy? I like being on the joy train, and I really believe my heart is a joy compass. So following my heart, following my inspiration is a laser focus of my life. I look for happiness everywhere around me, and there’s always some to be found.
[ PINK ]
What’s the first thing you think of when you think of pink? Heart chakra energy.
Closest pink thing to you? A beautiful slab of rhodochrosite.
What sweet things do you like? I’m a sweet junkie. But I’m particularly partial to chocolate.
Are you sensitive? Yes, I’m definitely a HSP highly-sensitive person.
What is your favourite flower? Among other things I’m a flower essence practitioner and aromatherapist. Flowers bring me great delight and joy, and so I find the question impossible – I simply can’t choose. I especially love old-fashioned flowers – peonies and lilacs and lily-of-the-valley. And roses are hugely significant to me in all sorts of ways. It’s no coincidence I channel the Sacred Rose Council.
Do you have a crush on someone? No.
[ ORANGE ]
What’s the first thing you think of when you think of orange? A great ball of fiery energy.
Closest orange thing to you? I have a painting hanging in this room with a woman and a hummingbird and the background is shades of orange.
Do you dress up for Halloween? No. That needs to change!
What gives you the warm fuzzies? Sweet notes, kind words, little surprises.
What would your superpower be? Well I just used the Superpower Generator to come up with this and truly it’s perfect. “Deborah Weber is able to tunnel through solid magic. She can transform any whale into a plant and she lords over a horde of bees. Sadly, Deborah Weber takes harm from exposure to fire.” Bees and Whales are totems of mine (and Deborah means Queen Bee); I love plants; and it’s true that I’m overly fearful of fire. That Superpower Generator clearly knows what it’s talking about.
[ BROWN ]
What’s the first thing you think of when you think of brown? Brownies. 😉
Closest brown thing to you? The table I’m working on.
What is your favourite type of chocolate? I like dark, I like milk, and I like every combination between. I like Wei chocolates which are infused with flower essences, and I like Moonstruck chocolates because they have moon-shaped chocolates and moon-shaped boxes. What’s not to love about that? And there are a lot of artisan chocolates that delight me as well.
What makes you feel grounded? Standing on the earth in my bare feet; having my hands in the dirt gardening; eating root vegetables.
Paint the wood or always leave it au naturel? We live in an almost 100-year old house that has beautiful hardwood floors and crown moldings galore. No paint there! But I love painting furniture.
[ WHITE ]
What’s the first thing you think of when you think of white? Fluffy clouds.
Closest white thing to you? Besides the screen I’m typing on, there are piles of papers surrounding me. Must be time to do a sort through!
Do you always try to keep the peace? Peace is important to me and I think we should all do our part to promote it. But I also believe in honest expression of feelings, so I don’t believe in glossing things over for the sake of “peace.” But I’m a big proponent of non-violent communication which is a very helpful way of opening the way for deep peace.
Do you like to play in the snow? No so much. An occasional snowball hurled at my husband while we’re out shoveling, but then it’s back inside for hot chocolate.
Are you afraid of going to the doctors or dentist? I’ve had more dental work than should be allowed by law, but luckily I’ve had relatively good experiences with dentists. Doctors not so much.
[ BLACK ]
What’s the first thing you think of when you think of black? My beloved crows and ravens.
Closest black thing to you? I have a fun rubber crow perched on a basket here.
Are you sophisticated or silly? Hmm. I definitely not sophisticated. And I’m not really silly either, although I do love to laugh. But I suppose I lean toward the serious.
Do you have a lot of secrets? No. I’m pretty transparent. I’m probably not the gabbiest person you know, so my stories don’t come tumbling out non-stop willy-nilly, but I don’t have anything to hide. When I was young I was very closed – I was very fearful of being judged. Not so much anymore. My goal is to shine as brightly and authentically as I can and fully aligned to my soul self.
What’s the new black? I’m hoping it’s polka dots. Because the world needs more of them. It’s a fact.
It’s evident that you are truly in tune with colour…I loved your answers. As for polka dots being the new block — that put a huge smile on my face!
as for my spelling…a new block I don’t know — a new black maybe! lol!
LOL – I don’t know, polka dot blocks sound pretty cool to me.
I loved reading your answers! Moonstruck chocolates sound great for a moon-lover like me… moon-shaped chocolates in moon-shaped boxes, wow! Pity we can’t do a swap: Moonstruck for me, Koeienvlekjes for you. 😀
Thanks for visiting!
Waving hello to a sister moon-lover!
Wonderful post, enjoyed reading it. I really liked the lines in your lucky song that you sing, and about being on the joy train bring you happiness. I wouldn’t mind if the new black was polka dots, it sounds more playful than black
Thanks Fran. I happy you stopped by.
Gardening and authenticity. Well said. I think they are two things worth cultivating.
Thanks Johanne – I agree.
Polka Dots!! okay, I’m down with that!!
You have very solid and grounded answers and i love that your iPad cover is Red-hachacha
~Dawn
Much as I love red, as far as I’m concerned the new adage should be paint the town with polka dots. 😉
Fun post, I enjoyed learning new things about you.
LOL – you’d think by now we’d know everything about each other. But it’s always fun to discover new facets.
I love the image you used at the start of your post. I find myself drawn to circles for some reason, and those colour combinations really resonate with me.
I could go on and on about your answers, but for now I will just say that I love that you sing ditties to yourself, that your tub is your favourite body of water and that you manage to have fun while shovelling. (Assuming that you enjoy throwing snowballs.)
It seems I’m obsessed with circles and dots at the moment, and well color – it’s all too much fun! Thanks so much for stopping by Sarah.
Great post! You certainly love your flowers. 🙂
I do Jill. Thanks for stopping by – I appreciate it.
