Here we are opening up a fresh new month. What’s in there for us to unpack?
While we still have three weeks until astronomical summer arrives, meteorological summer arrived on the doorstep this morning and I bounded out of bed early early early, ready to greet it.
On Monday mornings I hop on a call with a circle of beautiful friends and we set intentions, witnessing and cheering each other on. Clarity and vibrant energy were invoked and with that I’m off.
The card I drew this morning was Mallow from Lisa McLoughlin’s Plant Ally deck, which represents Heart Wisdom. And that feels like perfect a reminder with which to filter everything.
My peonies popped over the weekend and then we had lots and lots of rain. But this morning I was able to get out there and rescue the poor branches that had been beaten down by the storms. Aren’t they lovely? And the scent!
This month I’m also working with a Peony flower essence, and I’m really looking forward to that support – it feels so expansive and delicious. I think it’s going to be a fabulous month with Peony energy infusing it in lots of ways.
Just as I did last summer, I’m invoking the energy of a Creativity Cauldron – I’m creating a container in which to devote myself to full-out immersion in all sorts of creative projects with full permission to explore and have fun, fun, fun. While of course this is always available to us, it’s delightful to make it an official celebration, with metaphorical permission slips and ribbon cutting. Who doesn’t want to have a summer devoted to bigger, bolder, more fabulous creative self-expression in every possible way? And it feels deliciously aligned with the creative forces of nature showing up so lushly with abandon in the gardens. So I’m welcoming June with the intention of blooming extravagantly in the Garden of Me.
And while I love the playful energy of embarking on this journey, my heart also knows there is another layer as well. I think Hildegard von Bingen said it most beautifully:
“O most honored Greening Force,
You who roots in the Sun;
You who lights up, in shining serenity, within a wheel
that earthly excellence fails to comprehend.
You are enfolded
in the weaving of divine mysteries.
You redden like the dawn
and You burn: flame of the Sun.”
Lovely isn’t it?
Lovely too, is the Japanese custom which marks June 1 as Clothes Changing Day, switching out wardrobes from cold weather clothes to warmer weather ones. I’m going to spend some time today thinking about what my creative costume looks like, and what I’d like to wear to remind me of my superpowers this summer.
What about you? Do you feel the energy of change with the arrival of June? Feeling the support of some ally – be it animal or flower or something else altogether – inviting you on an adventure? Love peonies as much as I do? Have big plans for your summer? Do tell – you know I love to hear.
A creativity caldron sounds like a wonderful idea! I have many ideas percolating this June, lets see what this month brings!! Thanks for sharing
Wishing you a creative fun month Sue!
ah … peonies. My mother had peonies planted on the side of the house for years. Looking back, I think I could chart her mental decline by when she started losing interest in her plants. She wasn’t an avid gardener but she did have a nice touch and the few things she devoted herself to thrived.
Looking forward to seeing you dive into your creative container this summer. You always inspire me.
Ah tender memories Cynthia. I have so many around my parents as well, and sometimes they just rise up unexpectedly and grab my heart and squeeze.
Wishing you a wonderful and wonder-filled creative summer as well.
