Today’s KIOS blogathon prompt is Show and Tell. What a fun invitation. And frankly one I think I’ll need to incorporate more regularly into my blogging. Because really, how cool is show and tell?! I was extraordinarily shy as a child and show-and-tell where you had to stand in front of the class and share was so over-the-top painful for me it was anything but enjoyable. So sad! But frankly now feel like I have all these backed up show-and-tell moments waiting to burst forth in giggly excitement. So yay!
As the year winds down I start taking a look at the various components of my life, doing little reviews. Assessments of where I’m at, what’s been brilliant this year, what’s been a challenge – that sort of thing. I am a very big believer in paying attention and being intentional, and so I like to move through cycles honoring the old before closing it out and intentionally opening the new. This time of year is one of those periods when I’m ready to do that with lots of things as I start to envision what I want my 2014 to be a container for.
This morning I began thinking about what my prosperity altar for the new year should look like. Raising the question opens the way for me, and so now I will pay attention and listen, and over the course of the next days and perhaps weeks see what comes forth.
In the meantime, here’s a peek at my current altar.
I especially love my vintage cast-iron Humpty Dumpty piggy bank. It cracks me up (oops, sorry Humpty!) every time I look at it. And that’s an important component I want to invite in working with the energy of abundance and prosperity – I want laughter, I want joy, I want light-heartedness. Humpty’s wall also ends ups holding all the prosperity fortunes that pass through my Chinese-cookie-loving hands throughout the year.
I also keep currency on my altar. In addition to some actual U.S. currency, I have other forms as well. I’ve got a billion dollar bill and a million dollar bill, and most importantly I have my own created-by-me Honey Money. It delights me know end being my own mint – I can print off my own Honey Money whenever I feel like it. You can read more about it here if you’d like.
I’m actually looking for a bunch more of those million/billion dollars for a mailart project I’ve got in mind. Should you happen to have any you’re willing to pass on, do let me know and I’ll trade you some honey money for them.
Right now the only things I know will be staying on my next incarnation of my prosperity altar will be the Humpty bank, the string of natural citrine beads, and the currency. And a candle or two of course. All else is up for review.
So tell me, do you have a prosperity altar? A particular prosperity ritual you love to engage in? Ever created your own currency? What do you feel like showing and telling about today? Do tell, you know I love to hear. I really do.
I’d never thought about having a prosperity altar…until you showed us yours. And now that I’ve seen this? I’m thinking — what a fabulous idea!
Cool. And now I wish you a fabulous fortune of abundant prosperity! 😉
Honestly never thought of it. I love this idea!

Sparkly is always good. 😉
More than just material prosperity, I love how colorful and vibrant it all is! And there’s humor and sacredness — so great!
Yes, abundant prosperity in all its guises. Life is very rich.
The colors are heartwarming. It’s a good idea to gather in one place the things we love. What an impact!
I agree Johanne – a gathering of treasures is a wonderful thing.
I love the idea of a prosperity altar, and the idea of refreshing it in cycles. It’s so amazing to see what others are showing and telling. Thanks for sharing yours!
It really has been fun checking out all the show-and-tells — so many delights.
I don’t have a prosperity alter but I think it is a wonderful idea. I love your alter. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Thanks Ginny. The show-and-tell sharing has been great fun.
First of all, I love your site! All of the purples and nature elements… gorgeous!
Now on to the topic at hand, I’ve never heard of a prosperity alter. What a wonderful idea! It seems all of your items have special meaning to you. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for the kind words. And it’s true all the items on my altar are special. I’ve decided I want to live a life with only treasures in it. It’s more challenging than you might think, but it’s so deliciously wonderful.
What a happy, colorful altar! I do have an altar and I include prosperity stuff on it as well as other things. I had no idea that other people had altars in their homes until recently (I wondered if I may be a little strange. Maybe I am, but at least I am in wonderful company!) – I love seeing how others set theirs up. Thank you for sharing yours!
LOL- you’re in the company of way too many wonderfuls to be strange! And it is great fun to see how others do things isn’t it?
