is for house
Dear House –
I love you. You’re old and quirky, with your too-small rooms and gorgeous wood and that delightful small stained glass window. And oh how we’ve loved that front porch of yours – that lovely little extension we fill with flowers and laughter and morning coffee. You have blessed us for all these many years, keeping us safe and sheltered, enclosed in walls that hold so many memories and so many connections to my ancestral lineage. There has been such a richness to our life here, such joy here, such deep satisfaction and delight. And even though we’re beginning to turn our hearts and minds to considering a better-fit-for-us-now home, you are such an old treasured friend and my love for you is boundless. I want you to know that. And that even when the day comes we turn you over to someone who will hopefully love you immensely and give you all the loving care and attention you need and deserve, you will always be a treasure I hold in my heart. And in the meantime, we’ll continue to delight in you, and fill your spaces with love and laughter. As Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young would say “Our house is a very very fine house.” Thank you! I love you!
- Having mentioned CSN&Y I think we should let them sing to us, don’t you?
- I love the mission of Sweet Home and their house-shaped cookies – providing scholarship programs to help the homeless and at risk parents further their eduation.
- Check out these glorious treehouses.
- And I think The Housewives Tarot with its 50s throwback art is a hoot. Grab yourself some fun!
What about you? Have a favorite thing about your home? Or if home isn’t where your heart is, where is? Have a house song suggestion? Like the show House of Cards? Ever been in a tree house? Do tell – you know I love to hear.
