is for Jeek
I learned a new word this weekend. Jeek is the treasure found while geocaching. While I’ve never been geocaching, I do recognize a delightful word when I hear one, and jeek is just that. And I also believe it’s up to us to create the language we like, so I’m totally claiming jeek and defining it as treasure. No geocaching necessary.
Dear Jeek –
Oh how delighted I am to have met you! You tickle my tongue and make my heart smile. You know I’m on a mission to have only treasures in my life, and that alone would make you a welcome companion. But besides that you bring a sense of joy and playfulness, and invitation to welcome the surprise and delight of all that treasure brings with it. You breathe a sense of fun into the very idea of treasure! Which is of course something I want all my treasures to hold. You are treasure lightened up. You are dancing in the woods treasure; tiptoeing in the moon treasure; secret messages hidden in secret pockets treasure. You are unexpected cinnamon in the coffee; ice crystals flashing rainbow colors in the sunlight; perfect songs popping up at just the right moment. You make me remember that everyday can be the best day ever because you are all around and we just have to keep our eyes peeled. Jeek, Jeek, Jeek I’m in love with you!

And speaking of jeek, what do you think of this jeweled heart that made its way into my life in all its sparkly goodness? Bonus points because it opens up as well.
Given my lovely new golden heart, I think Neil Young’s Heart of Gold is the perfect song for today’s playlist. I like this 2011 Farm Aid version because family farmers are our country’s treasures as well.
Now I’m passing the jeek o’meter to you. What are you treasuring right now? Ever been geocaching? Have a song to suggest for my treasures playlist? Do you have a collection of heart icons/Milagros/images? Do tell – you know I love to hear.
Love the heart, oh yes I do!!!
What I’m treasuring right now are things that can’t be hidden in the woods…mostly the bits of sun popping from behind the clouds, haven’t seen that in ages.
And the excitement I feel about going into my studio and painting in a few minutes.
And the cup of hot water with lemon and honey that’s calling to me.
But I can’t think of a single jeek type thing….hmm, will have to keep my eyes opened and my consciousness attuned.
Oh yes Susan – the sun poking out and saying hello any time during this LONG gray winter is indeed a treasure! Have fun in your studio!
Loooove the heart but then, jewelry is always a treasure to me.
There can never be to much bejeweling. 🙂
