is for Valentine’s Day
So we’re jumping out of order to the V entry in my love abecedarium, but it only seems right since it is Valentine’s Day.
I love vintage valentines and this is one of my very favorites.
It’s what I wish for you – a cart full of wonderfulness; a shower of appreciation for all you bring to the world; a token of gratitude for your part in my life. May you know how much love there is for you; may you love yourself with great abandon; and may you always remember living from your heart is the best gift of love you can give to the world.
As the bright spark of soul love Hafiz wrote:
“The subject tonight is Love
And for tomorrow night as well,
As a matter of fact
I know of no better topic
For us to discuss
Until we all
Die!”
And because it’s Friday, I thought I’d do a valentine’s version of The Scattered Life Collective using more of my favorite vintage images.
current time:
1:30 p.m. on this day full moon, often known as the Cold or Ice Moon.
on the menu:
Lavender shortbread cookies with candied violets.
out the window:
It’s 17 degrees and there are piles of shoveled snow everywhere, but I hear some crows calling in the distance and my heart is happy.

listening:
Florence + The Machine’s Cosmic Love
good things:
Bubbles – I’ve found myself playing around with round things this week – snowballs, bubbles, and because we now have a nifty flashlight that shines both regular and ultraviolet light, I’ve hauled out a little string of UV color-changing beads. Color on demand!
Feathers – A friend mentioned the magic of a “feather-moment” – the little cosmic wink/kiss/blast of love that finding a feather brings. And sure enough, the very next day I found a feather gift outside my front door. Magic is always afoot – or perhaps that should be a-wing.
Around and About –
- Love this lettering by my friend Pat Pitingolo and the message about purpose.
- kids & cats, reading & love
- lesson: the antidote is love
That’s what’s up in my world at the moment. What about you? Want to add a little to the Valentine cart? What are you loving this week? Have a favorite love song to share? Treating yourself to a little Valentine loveliness? Know the perfect truffle recipe? Do tell – you know I love to hear.

Happy Valentine’s Day Candace. And what a delightful giveaway you’re hosting. Congratulations on the 5-year blogging milestone!
Wow. I could practically feel my heart swelling as I read the article about kids reading to shelter cats. What a truly awesome idea.
And your Valentine’s sentiments are much appreciated – I don’t have romantic love in my life right now, so I’m relishing all of the friendly love I’m receiving today that much more!
Yeah that kids/cats program delighted my heart as well! And I’m glad you’re soaking in the love Sarah.
Hi Deborah. Thanks for the shout out. You’ve been on my mind a lot lately. Just this week I pulled out our collaborative journal and enjoyed all the lovely pages once again. Happy Valentine’s Day my friend!!! Visiting here has become one of my greatest pleasures. Keep doing what you do–it makes a difference!
Thanks for stopping by Pat. It’s my absolute pleasure to shout about your wonderful art! What fun we had in those collaborative journals – I treasure mine as well.
Such “love”ly valentines!! I especially adore the one of the little girl with the red coat. It just caught my eye. And your friend’s Pat lettering was fabulous- thanks for sharing.
I’ve always held that red shoes made life more magical, but I think our little Valentine’s girl has it going on with that whole red outfit. And I so want her hat! LOL.
Pat’s lettering IS marvelous isn’t it?! She’s such an inspiration to me.
Have had a very stressful couple of days recently and am overwhelmed with the kindness of strangers and the support and love of family and friends. Your timing is perfect Deborah. So very glad you skipped to V.
Sorry to hear you’ve had some challenging days Kelly – sending good wishes that they’re behind you and you can catch up on the good.
