is for music
There’s so much to be grateful about music isn’t there? Almost anything we could want to listen to is readily available to us on demand with ease, in a way that wasn’t true for even our parents, let alone the generations before. And with Pandora and other options we can gently expand what we’re introduced to and find new favorites. I always delight in hearing what’s up on others playlists as well. All fun.
Today I thought I’d give you a taste of a few songs about gratitude that I’m grateful for.
Louis Armstrong – What a Wonderful World
Natalie Merchant – Kind and Generous
Jennifer Berezan – Praises for the World
Joan Baez – Gracias a la vida
Any songs about gratitude that you can contribute to the list? Or let’s open up the discussion entirely – is there a certain song(s) you absolutely love and would be easy to put on a gratitude list? Do share – you know I love to hear.
Oh gosh I LOVE this post since I love music! And I haven’t heard the Jennifer Berezan song for years, one of my faves. Songs that come from my mind are Sly & the Family Stone “Thank you for letting me be myself”, Bon Jovi “Thank You For Loving Me”, and the Golden Girls theme song, “Thank you for being a friend”! 🙂
Nice Jennifer. I’m grateful to you for adding to the list. 😉
Playing the Jennifer Berezan song as I write this. Once again, I am overcome with calmness when I read your posts. I would add Alanis Morissette’s Thank You.
Thanks for the kind words Kelly – I like to think of my space as a little oasis of serenity. Great addition to our playlist with the Alanis Morissette reminder.
Oh yay! I forgot about that Natalie Merchant song…I’ve been listening to it non-stop since you reminded me of it! What about “Thank You” by Dido… “I want to thank you for giving me the best day of my life.” …that’s a pretty big thing to be grateful for!
And I just want to say thank you to you for this abecedarium…you’ve made me start to notice the positive things in my life much more readily. I had a hard time trying to sit down and list things I was grateful for, then in your “A is for…” post you talked about thinking of things you are GENUINELY grateful for. You said: ” No one is asking you to feel anything you don’t feel – you aren’t being required to express gratitude for something you don’t feel grateful for just because it seems like the “right” or most “spiritually-correct” or whatever external measure you’re holding yourself up to.” …and that was a huge WOOHOO!!! moment for me. It was like permission to be glad for things I am glad about…even if they are a little kooky…like being glad about milk! So thank you for that!
I am including a link to the blog post with my very first list of good things I’m glad about, because I mentioned that you were my muse of happy thoughts and linked to your blog so I just wanted you to know… 🙂

Oh I’m so delighted and grateful you stopped by! I’m glad you posted a link to your blog post so we can peek at your list. It’s a great one. And it’s exactly what I mean by honoring what’s true for you. There’s no reason we all can’t shine in our quirky wonderfulness delighting in what makes us happy. Your list is perfect and has me smiling. And thanks for the Dido reminder – totally forgot about that one.
