This month I’m developing a manifesto based on unusual words that delight me and represent my interests as I blog through the alphabet in the A-to-Z challenge. Today we’re visiting the letter B.
B is for bibelot.
n: “a small object of curiosity, beauty, or rarity; a trinket; a beautiful bauble; a book of unusually small size.
I love to create bibelots. So much so that’s the name of my studio.
I do my share of creating sacred objects and talismans, but I also create jewelry, journals, and zines. I bind books, I make paper, write poetry, and send out love letters. I love color; create magical scented blends with essential oils; do off-loom beading, and make herbal beads.
From tiny bibelots to the grandeur of nature and everything in between, I believe the world is filled with treasures. It’s up to us to notice and appreciate them, and create our own as well.
What are you doing to add to the beauty of this world? What lovely little treasure do you value? Do tell – you know I want to hear.
Lovely. Hmmm, what beauty do I send out? I really only send my nature photos out into the world through the magic of the internet but I do hope that it helps a few people to look closely at the natural beauty surrounding us all if we just look. Oh…and I’m going to start growing lavender soon and hopefully be able to give people bunches of lavender, lavender bread, lavender cake…the possibilities are endless if I can just get it to survive and thrive.
Your photography is very inspirational Candace, and it does indeed invite us to notice the magical world of nature all around us.
How fun you’re going to give lavender growing a try – and what great plans you have for it. Sounds fabulous to me.
I paint with a needle and thread, I smile a lot, I’m kind to everyone (or at least I think so) and I love all and everything (or at least I think so)
Evalina, This and that…
All beautiful things Evalina.
I treasure the silver spoon, angel, and ring left to me by my grandmother. Just looking at them makes me smile. Love the new word, well for me,
bibelot! Thanks for sharing!
Happy Second Day of the A to Z!

What lovely treasures Yolanda. Thanks for stopping by and happy A-to-Z-ing.
Love your studio bibelot sign. I make mini-albums and cards. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for stopping by Janet – and happy creating.
Love learning new words! What a fantastic word! I love making cards, and encouraging others with them. It is one of my most very favorite forms of communication, and my love language. I have kept cards that have been given to me for years and years. I just think it is such a treasure to be able to read what someone else writes to you. I especially love quotes. The simplest quote can have the strongest meaning in my life. Thanks for your post! Loved its’ beauty!
Thanks for stopping by Tawnya. What a lovely understanding you have about your art and its importance. It’s fun to find those meaningful quotes isn’t it?
My garden. This year I’m planting wildflowers all around the gate to draw in the bees and butterflies.
How beautiful Melanie!
I love the bibelots! How beautiful! Thanks for visiting my blog.

Thanks for returning the visit Cherdo. Wishing you all kinds of lovely little treasures to brighten your day.
OH i love that this is the name of your studio. I have been enchanted with creating small, messier containers. I have a theory that we cease to record our journey because our containers are too big, too perfect. I want to create space for people to capture their ordinary treasures .. . . and my studio is almost set up and the tables are waiting for me to create.
Oh I do love how you think about things Cynthia! And how wonderful your studio is almost ready – I know lots of magic will be happening there.
