We’re in the midst of a Mercury retrograde (through June 19).
Mercury retrogrades tend to get a bad rap. Mercury rules communication and transportation and it’s true that with his Trickster energy things do get funky and snarled. We’re warned not to sign contracts, purchase expensive things, or make major life changes. But there’s so much more to these three-times-a-year three-week periods.
I like to celebrate the duration as a stepping out of the flow of forward time. It’s the perfect opportunity for all “re” activities – revisioning, reflecting, revising, revisiting, recharging.
I suspect I need more down time than is average, but I seriously don’t know how well I’d manage without these built in review periods. And by the time Mercury turns direct after three weeks I feel refilled, refreshed, and ready to move forward.
Someone or something from the past usually shows up during Mercury’s retrograde. Old acquaintances suddenly reappear, or perhaps some forgotten missing item turns up. I like to think of this as the surprise gift Mercury brings – perhaps as an apology for the cellphone meltdown or the computer files vanishing.
Has something from the past shown up for you?
I’m just learning about Mercury Retrograde, but I have to tell you – the last three weeks have been all about reorganizing, realigning and revising my goals. What a difference! I feel like I’ve shed an old crusty layer and a new me is ready for the world!
Hi Suzanne. Sounds like you used the energy of the retrograde perfectly! And I’m like you – by the time the 3-week period is over, I always feel as though I’m ready to dive back in and in better shape than before. I’ve come to depend on what I consider these regularly scheduled mini cosmic retreats.
