is for innocence.
Innocence has been on my mind of late. Perhaps it’s because I’ve been immersed in a tarot project and the Fool is always dear to my heart. And a favorite traveling companion. Or perhaps it’s because I had a fabulous dream with its element of innocence that has totally rocked my world in a most wonderful way.
When I start a new journal I often dedicate it to The Fool. It always feels like the right intention to invoke – an openness when stepping out on a new journey.
Sometimes I like to lay things out on a circle – and create a sort of mandala – a container for something I’m exploring. Here’s one I’ve done for Innocence, and I’ve laid fool cards from the Kitchen Tarot deck and Elemental Tarot.
I also love these fools from the Trance Tarot and Stella’s Tarot.
Innocence may be defined as power without manifestation. It is power in its potential form.
Another recent find I’m enjoying exploring is Mellissae Lucia’s Oracle of Initiation: Rainbows in the Dark. The sixty-four card deck is divided into 8 broad categories – Innocence, Exploration, Initiation, Discernment, Alliance, Balance, Offering, and Unity. For the Innocence category/container she offers eight cards – Gateway of Innocence – Potential; Purity; Instinct, Naivety; Unfolding; Unconscious; Awakening; and Wonder.
What a delicious array of perspectives with which to explore innocence, no?
We often give short shrift to Innocence – allowing that there is a wonderfulness about it when associated with children, but not necessarily embracing it as a gift in those no longer young. Which is a shame in my opinion. Innocence carries fresh eyes and an open heart and understands anything is possible. And I think that’s a pretty wonderful perspective.
How about you? Are you open to celebrating the Fool? Carry sparks of innocence? Ever start journeys or journals by invoking a particular energy? Do tell – you know I love to hear.
How interesting. I do not have much experience with Tarot cards so this was quite interesting to me. However, I started journaling a couple of years ago and seem to have a growing collection of journals for various purposes. Is that considered ‘invoking a particular energy’?
I was really intrigued at how the interpretation for the Fool was openness to step out. Cool!
It’s always a delight to know there are other journalers out there growing their collections. 🙂
What I consider invoking energy is to very clearly, with intention, call forth, what it is I wish to experience or explore. So perhaps each one of your journals is dedicated to something specific, or to write your heart truly, or just to hold your thoughts. It can be anything. Make sense? But in any case, I find that invoking energy is a very powerful thing to do.
