Today’s Kickin’ It Old Skool blog-a-thon prompt is to capture this moment in time by answering the following questions:
What are you reading?
- Phases of the Moon by Louise Hastings, a poetry book
- The Law of Divine Compensation by Marianne Williamson
- Soulless: A Novel of Vampires, Werewolves and Parasols by Gail Carriger
- Living Myths: Exploring Archetypal Journeys by Tom Jacobs
What are you watching?
At this second, I’m watching my cat Jupiter acting like the crazed catnip addict he is. But if we’re talking flat screen, I’ve been working my way through the Grimm series. I don’t watch much television but last weekend our public broadcasting station had a two-day mystery marathon and I was parked in front of the tv for countless hours. I love mysteries!
What are you listening to?
David Darling’s Children. He’s a new find for me but apparently I need the serenity induced by his mellow cello as I keep spinning this one over and over.
What are you loving?
Well saying my life in general might be a bit too broad in scope. So narrowing it down, in this very moment I’m loving a collaborate project I’m working on with my friend that involves regular doses of laughter and is requiring stretching my art skills. I’m also loving a new essential oil perfume blend I created. I’ve been tweaking this formula for myself for quite some time and I think I’ve got a keeper now. I can tell because I keep finding myself with my nose pressed to my wrist.
What am I wearing?
Jeans, a favorite pair of clogs, and one of my all-time favorite tops – a kind of artisty tunicy smock with huge pockets. It’s many many years old – an extinct BlueFish design called the Romper Dress. It’s well beyond respectable at this point and moving into shabby but I love it so. My real hope is to find a seamstress who can work from a sewn garment as a pattern who will then whip me up a wardrobe of them. I think about that almost every time I put this one on, and always imagine what fun it will be choosing the fabrics. I’m reminded of a wonderful present I was gifted with as a kid – a lightbox and some paper doll templates. I may have missed the fashionista boat in my adulthood, but I had a delightful time as a child designing wardrobes. I’m also wearing an armful of silver bangles engraved with snippets of poetry, and my favorite moonstone earrings. It is after all a new moon today.
What am I creating?
Solstice cards are on the work table; a mandala for my daily project is on the agenda; I’m working on an e-course offering for my biz; and I have a soup simmering on the stove.
What am I looking forward to?
A cup of Vanilla Orchid tea, some time in my studio, and the moment when my cleaning-up/reorganizing my office space moves from the point of disastrous chaos into serene tidiness. Yes, I’m looking forward to that!
What about you? What’s going on for you right now? Do tell, you know I love to hear.
Love me some Grimm! great show
Read Marianne Williamson book and got more than I thought I would from it. Very good read.
Your tea sounds divine as do your tarot cards and mandala (which of course you know I am partial to).
have a great day
Peace~
Dawn
Wishing you a wonderful day as well Dawn.
Hi Deborah, your site is beautiful. I love that you surround yourself with flowers. As for me, I am in my office translating at the moment. Well, taking a few minutes to follow along the blog-o-thon. I hope you get to your studio very soon!
Thanks for the kind words Johanne and I’m delighted you stopped by.
I must put that Marianne Williamson book on my list of books to read in 2014!
It’s a small little volume so you can slip it in your pile.
I love that wonderful description of your tunic and that childhood memory! So beautiful and lovely.
I understand the bit about looking forward to tidiness 😉 I’ve been working out of town for almost two months now and my sweet husband, bless his heart, isn’t the best of house keepers. This weekend as I looked around my kitchen, I felt an overwhelming need to straighten it all up, open the windows, let it air out, let the light in, get it organized and tidy. It just must happen. And I’m looking forward to it 😉
After a couple months away it must be a delight to be home Jen. But when you get everything tidied to your liking it’ll be perfect.
How lovely to have created your own scent…when you said you know it’s a keeper because you keep putting your wrist to your nose I smiled…I do that too when I’ve found something that really pleases my nose!
LOL – yes the nose knows.
I love the art piece! Beautiful!
I’ll have to check out Grimm…I’ve been wanting to, but haven’t yet…but I’ll take a Deborah recommendation any day! 🙂
You made me laugh about your cat…it reminded me of mine…she goes catnip crazy…it’s the only ‘classic cat’ thing she does! I try to get her to play with a laser pointer, but she just looks at me like I’m an idiot…the funny part is that one of my dogs will chase the laser pointer…I’ve never seen dog that would do that before!
I’m like you…I look forward to the day my studio will be tidy…I keep cleaning it and then inspiration strikes and the tornado is unleashed! I just can’t seem to figure out how to keep it in good order…especially when I’m in an arting frenzy! 🙂
LOL – I so get the inspiration tornado! It doesn’t seem fair though that the cleaning up the mess is a lot less amusing than the creating of it. And I so recognize “you-are-an-idiot” look – both my cats frequently bestow them on me. 😉
Wow, I love the array of books you are reading Deborah! They all sound fascinating 🙂
I quite enjoy Grimm too, it’s a really fun show.
Oh… Solstice cards! What a lovely idea! I loved reading your Time Capsule!
What fun this blog-a-thon is – I’m quite enjoying it. And I appreciate you stopping by Shannon.
