Today is Day 3 of my Mind Your Ps and Qs series – my contribution to the Write 31 Days blogging challenge – wherein I’m writing about pronoia, peace, and quiety. Pronoia is the philosophy that the world is conspiring to shower us all with blessings; quiety is calmness and serenity; and peace of course needs no definition.
I believe it’s important how we walk in this world – that every day we have the opportunity to choose our words and our actions. I believe the call is always there to bring heart-centeredness into the world and make nonviolence and peace a tangible thing.
And although I suspect each one of us can find different reasons why we believe it is true, I bet all of us agree with the directive: Be the change you wish to see in the world. It works on so many levels. First I believe it’s important to be authentic and that means walking your talk. And secondly, I think there’s always room for stretching – no matter how masterful we become at something, there is always a growing edge. But energetically, I also believe in like resonance. Offer a vibration and allow other vibrations to entrain to it. Be peace; offer peace; and see what peace returns.
There is a peace invocation/prayer that’s been widely translated from the Vedas, the ancient Sanskrit wisdom texts. This is one version that I particularly like:
May the heavens be peaceful.
May the space between the sun, moon and stars be peaceful.
May the earth be tranquil.
May the waters be calm.
May all the herbs be healthy and peaceful.
May all the vegetable kingdom nourish and be peaceful.
May the elements and all luminous forces be peaceful.
May our body, mind and soul be calm and joyful.
May everything be at peace and may this peace be real.
May peace and harmony flourish though all.
It’s a beautiful intention to hold with awareness, and can be a lovely practice to simply read, or say aloud, or even meditate with. The more you hold it in conscious awareness, the deeper the calm within can be centered.
Part of my intention of this series is to share information and resources that pique your interest and curiosity and hopefully expand your own connection with peace activism. So with that in mind, today let me steer you towards Peace Action is a national, grassroots organization committed to organizing a citizen movement.
May you find peace and harmony flourishing throughout your day. And may you be an ambassador for it as well.
What change do you wish to be in the world? Have a peace resource you’d like to share? Do tell – you know I love to hear.
