is for receptivity
Are you wondering what that has to do with self-care? A lot actually.
Human beings are living breathing receivers. Everything around us is energy (us included) and every aspect of our being is tuned to receive. From the most mundane to the most divine, it’s all available all the time.
And it’s up to us to choose how we want to navigate. We’re sovereign beings and the responsibility for our self-care doesn’t fall to anybody else.
So where do we begin?
Don’t stand in energy streams you don’t want to be in. You don’t want to be welcoming energies that deplete you, aren’t healthy, leave you diminished. We all have these things in our lives, whether they’re at the level of annoyances and background anxiety; or for some really life-encompassing things that feel uber-challenging to extricate from. If you can’t move out of the energy stream entirely, what can you do to give it less attention, less of your life force, less of your bandwidth? Establish and maintain as strong and healthy boundaries as you can, and work on receiving less of what is non-nourishing.
Important as that is, I think it’s even more important to find the energy streams you do want to be in – those that uplift, bring joy, allow you flow lovingkindness, fill you.
I think we’re all being increasingly called to tune our receivers to be consciously receptive of all the magic, the goodness, the wonders, the kindness, the beauty, the love, the support that surrounds us in every moment. As much as we can fill our hearts and lives with this, the easier it becomes to turn away from what disempowers.
As beloved Rumi said:
“Hear blessings dropping their blossoms around you.”
Some people struggle with this aspect of receptivity – fully receiving the good. Perhaps some baby steps are needed. If someone smiles at you on the street, can you receive it? Can you receive a compliment, let it wash over you and take it into your heart – or do you need to immediately deflect it? Can you receive without keeping score, without immediately planning on how to give back? Can you open your senses and receive the sights, the sounds, the scents nature is offering?
So what are you doing?
Are you keeping your palms turned up ready to receive those blessings dropping their blossoms?
I welcome your comments – I receive them as little love notes from you and am honored when you leave them.
Hello! Yes! and Yes!!!!!! What a divine calling this post is. Honestly we forget that we have the ability to chose where what streams we stand in. Oh it is is so easy to forget! Today I navigated public transportation and thousands of people in downtown Chicago and I was not enjoying the stream of energy I was part of. I realized that I need to make differenct choices to avoid being within the throws of energy I had surrounding me. I felt suffocated and no longer willing to choose this. Upon recognizing that I began to take back my power from the circumstance. I no longer want to even be part of energy systems that are not supporting my joy.
Thank you for this post!
