After yesterday’s rather lengthy meme, today’s KIOS question is short and sweet – What’s the weather like where you live today?
Our Chicago weather is crazy strange for December. Where it should be cold and quite possibly snowy, instead we’re headed to a high today of 57 degrees accompanied by rain. A whole lot more Spring like than 17 days before the Winter solstice might suggest.
Still, there’s always something to consider in the weather, and I especially like this snippet from a Mary Oliver poem:
“Last night
the rain
spoke to me
slowly, saying,
what joy
to come falling
out of the brisk cloud,
to be happy again
in a new way
on the earth!”
Snow is scheduled to arrive late tomorrow so of course that means the temps will be dipping and our reprieve will end soon. Hats and mittens will have to be hauled out again. But in the meantime it feels like a perfect day to tune into the Eurythmics Here Comes the Rain Again.
Whatever the clime in your part of the world, I hope you’re having a wonderful day.
I love this post! You covered art, poetry and music all about the weather! Perfect!

LOL – I do tend to meander all over the place.
Ah you quoted one of my top 5 favorite poets. She hits it in the sweet spot every time.
That is a great illustration, too by the way.
Have a terrific day!

Mary Oliver is amazing isn’t she? That’s a wonderful observation about her always hitting the sweet spot – perfect!
What a lovely post! Thanks for the poem!
You’re only 2 degrees cooler than it is out here in SoCal (we’re expecting “rain” tomorrow).
Have a great day!
Makes me laugh to think we’re having California weather. Hope you have a wonderful day as well.
It’s always such a treat to have a touch of spring before our winter begins. I think we’re going to get your weather tomorrow 🙂
It IS a treat. Although I think I’d like another go of it again around the beginning of February when winter has always seemed to be wearing its welcome thin.
Hello from your Milwaukee Neighbor!
The weather has been crazy! I’m enjoying the rain (it’s welly weather!) but I am anticipating the flurries. That’s where the winter magic is. 🙂
Waving hello and keeping my eyes peeled to see what kind of fab wellies you’ll be wearing.
It was a grey day here today.
Hope your mood stayed sunny.
It’s been crazy warm here too! Stupid global warming… No snow for me, and I love the snow!
Isn’t Mary Oliver fantastic?!? Words are my first and lasting love, and she puts them together in such an elegant and fascinating way…
Mary Oliver really does rock. We may need to read some of her snow-laden poems to get more in the winter mood given the current uncooperativeness of our weather. 😉
