It’s hard for me to believe but here we are the final color prompt in this year’s Summer of Color. The invitation is to create something with the combo of Raspberry, Tangerine and a pop of Lemon. In keeping with my intention, I created another small journal in which to track this week’s highlights. But I have to say I’m also tempted to have a dish of sorbets made with those flavors. Doesn’t that sound delicious?
Here’s a peek at my little hot-colored journal. I couldn’t resist adding the little vintage Japanese metal pin of the yellow bird. He seems to belong there doesn’t he? And after all it does seem like birds have been a theme this month what with my bluebirds of happiness, my discovery of precious pink Rosy Bourks, and the fabulous Funny Birds pop up book. It’s a little early but later in the summer I’m sure I’ll be spotting a little crew of yellow finches around here feasting on the sunflowers. That always delights my heart.
It just so happens that a box of raspberries was included in my CSA delivery today and so I googled raspberry lemon recipes. These bars sound pretty yummy!
By the way, we’re at mid-month already so I’m throwing out another reminder that I’m doing a giveaway in honor of my birthday month. If you’re interested pop over here and leave a comment about which package(s) you’d like your name thrown in the hat for.
And in the meantime I’d love to hear how color has popped in your week so far. Know of a raspberry-colored bird? Love lemons? Feeling amazed that we’re halfway through July already? Do tell – you know I love to hear.
Ooooooo, yes. This particular colour combo really excites me. Orange has always been a favourite colour, and I’m exploring red and yellow – my kitchen and bedroom are currently yellow, and I have pops of red in my living room.
I would have to say that lemon is probably my all-time favourite flavour. Those bars sound DIVINE. I’m relying heavily on lemon water right now, as I have just committed to eliminating Coke from life – the empty calories and caffeine were really doing a number on me. It’s day three and so far I’m… okay, I think. 🙂
Your place sounds wonderful Sarah. And yay you for the lemon water switch-up!
this is so lovely and summery too.
Thanks Tammie – this was a perfect summer color combo wasn’t it. Wishing you endless colorful inspiration!
So pretty. I keep meaning to ask you if you’ve read The Goldfinch. I just finished today, whew!, it was a loooong one and I had a hard time doing much else the last few days so I feel a little free right now but I totally enjoyed it. I keep hoping to photograph a goldfinch but, although we do have them here, I rarely see them with camera in hand and they’re pretty fast.
I’m betting you’ll get your goldfinch shot someday. That would be wonderful. And while I haven’t read The Goldfinch yet, it IS in the pile. You may just have forced me to move it upwards. 🙂
Very sweet and lovely!
Thanks! Wishing you a colorful week.
I adore these colors! Years ago, I painted my daughter’s room these colors with big stripes and circles. She has since grown and moved away from home and I still can not paint over it. They are such invigorating colors!
Shari 🙂
Oh how fun – I can’t only imagine how wonderful that room is!
Great colours and a really sweet little book. I’ve enjoyed your books, and this one is special because of the colours and the little yellow bird. Your little books have been a great SOC theme.
Thanks Sheila. It’s been a fun SOC hasn’t it?
Yes it’s been a great party and we’ve all met new friends.
I meant to add in my comment – thanks for the link to the lemon bars, I’ll definitely be making them.
Always happy to share some sweetness. 🙂

Love this…..the colors are so vibrant and the addition of the little Goldfinch is perfection! I had one of those sweet little birds fly across my path today as I was biking….so bright and colorful….and now seeing this journal…it all comes together!
Oh how fun to have a goldfinch sighting! Sounds like a wonderful bike ride.

Thank you Kristin – I loved SOC!
Wow I love this Deborah! That little yellow bird looks perfect on there and gives you your “pop” of lemon. This has been such a fun challenge and I’ve enjoyed seeing your jourals each week. I’m glad you liked learning about Rosy Bourks too! 🙂
Thanks Cindy. While I’m sorry another SOC has passed, do know I’ll be keeping up with what’s happening at your Pink Bird Studio. 🙂
