Bright Blessings at the Solstice! Wishing you a joy-filled celebration as the wheel turns again ushering us into another season, and another opportunity to show up and shine radiantly in every moment.
Today is also day 21 of the KIOS blogathon, and today’s prompt is Share with us a quote you love.
This may well be the most challenging prompt yet. Who among us doesn’t love words? I breathe poetry and wear it written on bangles on my wrists. The thought of choosing just one quote seemed overwhelming impossible. Luckily my more rational mind kicked in and reminded me I simply had to choose one, not the most perfect, but simply one that spoke to me in this moment. And then I had it.
As I close out the old year and open the way to the new, this quote has been popping up in my mind.
“She decided to free herself, dance into the wind, create a new language. And birds fluttered around her, writing “yes” in the sky.” – Monique Duval
Isn’t that lovely? And so rich in invitation and filled with possibility.
I think I’ll be carrying this with me into the new year as one of my guiding stars. I’ve already chosen a word – well more accurately the word has chosen me. And now I’m choosing traveling companions, and I this is one of them.
I’ve posted a number of times about my version of the practice of Lectio Divina. If you’re interested in exploring my journey with it, I’ll head you over to this latest post and if you want you can follow the breadcrumbs back even further through the links posted there.
But for now I’m considering the possibility that this might be something I work with for an extended period, more than my usual month. And that I would create a number of pieces of art around it. I’m not really sure what that might look light, but I’m opening to the possibility and we’ll see what unfolds.
And now what about you? Are you celebrating the Solstice? Have a favorite quote? Have you chosen a word for 2014? Are the birds writing YES in the sky for you? Do tell – you know I love to hear.
What a fun picture that paints in my mind! Love this. My word for 2014 is Courage.
Ooh powerful word Janet – what a beautiful guiding star!
That’s a lovely quote, could also be used as an affirmation. Thanks for sharing!
Indeed!
Definitely a sense of YES in my life these days. I’ve been trying to bring things into focus in my work and my art and after a long stretch of background work, I am starting to see progress.
What a wonderful place to be!
That’s a beautiful quote, I love it! I may have to “borrow” it soon. Happy Solstice to you, Deborah.
Thanks Candace. And there are birds enough to sing for all of us – happy borrowing. 😉
Ah, that quote really is gorgeous — and carries such lovely imagery of possibilities and living as our truest selves. Thank you!
It IS so inviting into possibility isn’t it? Makes my heart sing.
