Playing in the Summer of Color is fun for the creative challenge itself, but the bonus is getting to visit other players’ blogs and see what they’re up to. Today as I was visiting Bleubeard and Elizabeth’s blog Altered Book Lover I discovered she does a weekly party T stands for Tuesday inviting folks to link up with post about tea, a drinking vessel, or any other liquid refreshment.
I had to smile because I’d been thinking of doing a Tuesday series of posts and was trying to decide if T stood for treasures or for trees. Both of which I have plenty to share about. But T for Tuesday tea sounds perfect as well. I’ve decided to play along and show you one of my treasures – a teapot.
Alas I no longer remember the name of the potter, and it’s not signed. But I do know it was a local artist and this piece has been loved by me for many years.
I always think of an elephant when I see it, and that adds to the delight for me. Sometimes I set the pot next to another of my treasures, Ellie the metal elephant that was gifted to me by a dear friend. I like to imagine they’re sharing stories while I’m eavesdropping over a cup of tea.
I’ve even been known to indulge in an elephant ear or two while having tea. Of course no elephants are harmed in the practice. Quite the contrary – they are oohed and ahhed over and praised highly as is their just due. Here’s one of my favorite recipes Cinnamon Elephant Ears which are baked.
What about you? Are you an equality opportunity coffee and tea lover like I am, or do you have a preference? Have a favorite go-with-tea snack? Love elephants as much as I do? Do tell – you know I love to hear.
That is a pretty and very unique teapot to be treasured. Now that you mention it and show your tin elephant–I can see it! 😉
I am a 90% coffee drinker. I have never heard of those elephant ears but they look scrumptious!! Happy T-Day! 🙂
Happy T-day Rita and thanks for stopping by to say hello.
Love your tea pot! I can see the elephant in it!
I loe elephant ears too, tho I’m trying to lose weight!
Zero-calorie elephant ears would be awesome wouldn’t they? 🙂 Happy T-day and thank you for stopping by.
Welcome to T this Tuesday. So glad you decided to join us. It’s always nice to include a new face among the regulars.
I immediately saw the elephant in the tea pot, but was surprised when I clicked on the elephant ears recipe. I’ve had those before, but they weren’t called elephant ears. Also, instead of puff pastry, which I would actually enjoy, they were made with a dough that rises. In fact, I’ve seen them at the Mexican deli in my neighborhood, where they seem to be a staple.
So glad to read no elephants were harmed today, because I also love elephants. What a great way to share your tea. I’m an equal opportunity tea and coffee drinker, although I usually only drink tea on Tuesday.
Thanks for joining us this week for tea, and we hope to see more of you in the weeks and years ahead.
So delighted to play along – what a fun Tuesday tradition. Thanks for the warm welcome and I look forward to lots more T-days.
Such an interesting tea pot. I have a soft spot for hand thrown pottery. I guess I should amend that to say a soft spot for anything handmade. I also like elephants a lot I’m a coffee in the morning and tea in the afternoon person. Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment. I enjoy meeting new bloggers.
Darla
Yay for handmade. And thanks for visiting Darla. I agree it’s delightful to meet new bloggers and T-day has been fun.
I saw the elephant in your lovely tea pot right away! Elephants are dear to my husband and I, and we have a little collection of them. With the exception of a very rare latte, cappuccino or expresso, I am a tea only drinker. Welcome to tea Tuesday!
Oh how fun to have a little herd.
I love tea and coffee both, but tend towards coffee in the mornings.
I like elephants, and I love yours! I love the colors and the shape of the eye, and well, really everything about it. I can definitely see it as an attractive addition to my bookshelf 😉
I’ve had elephant ears but never made them myself. That recipe looks doable, so I’m saving it for later. To have with coffee. Or tea 😉
Thx! Happy T(ea) Tuesday!
LOL – I’m going to keep my address a secret lest there be an elephant relocation party afoot.
That’s a beautiful teapot and an excellent idea. I might just have to join in next week or sometime soon. I do have a unique teapot and then another one that was mass-produced but cute.
Oh fun – you really should play along. I definitely want to see your pots!
Lovely teapot…thanks for joining in today!!
Thanks. I’m glad I found your fun gathering.
your teapot really does have a gray elephant type of shape! really lovely, and wonderful to support local artists. glad you joined in today!
Thanks Dianne and I agree supporting local artists is both wonderful and a joy.
Sadly I am only a tea drinker, wish I could drink coffee. Love both your teapots and hope you have lots more to share with us and welcome to this Tuesday meme. While you are at it why dont you join us at WOYWW on a Wednesday which all we tea drinkers do as well
Bridget #1
Thanks for visiting Bridget and I’ll be sure to check out WOYWW.
I am a tea only lover, but Have no problem with coffee drinkers! Welcome to T for Tuesday and thanks for such a great teapot. I had never thought of teapots looking like elephants, but now you mention it, they do, don’t they? I used to have a collection of pots that were animals and birds, but there was no elephant. I will have to look out for one!
Sounds like you had a fun collection of pots!
Happy T-Day!
That a real nice and unique tea pot.
🙂 Glad to hear no elephants are hurt. I do l like them. I didn’t know they are called Elephant Ears. That recipe doesn’t look too difficult. Maybe I’ll try it some day.
I’m all for easy recipes and I’d rate this one a thumbs up. And they are delicious.
Hello and welcome to T Day! So nice to meet you and what a cool teapot that is. I saw the elephant too, my nana would have liked both the pot and your pretty elephant. My mom also loves to eat elephant ears at the fairs.
I am a tea drinker only, hot tea first thing in the morning and iced tea during the day.
Hope you join us again for T time. Have a wonderful week.
Thanks for the warm welcome to T-day Dawn – what a delightful community I’m sure I’ll continue to visit.
Greetings and Welcome to T day…
What a wonderful teapot that is and paired with your sweet elephant you have put some lovely imagery in my head 🙂
I have a small elephant collection and have them all facing toward the outdoors (saw that in a movie once … it is supposed to be ‘good luck’).
I seem to drink more coffee on weekends but do enjoy both coffee and tea…
water is my all time favorite drink !
Off to check out your elephant ear link…
oxo
How delightful to meet another elephant lover. I’d not heard that about the good luck positioning, but I’m sure your elephants enjoy facing out in any case. 🙂
HI there!!!
Love the tea pot! I think i’ve seen that pastry before but never heard it called elephant ears… lol! Hugs! deb
Hi Deb – thanks for stopping by. I’m sure you’re correct that the pastry is known by another name. Elephant ears are commonly fried dough, but I like this version as it’s flaky, baked, and cinnamon. Yum!
Drink tea every morning. Mine is a blend of ginger root, licorice root and Oat straw. And I have an Ellie too!! Only mine is in the shed at the moment. It’s been to wet in the yard to get her out. She ways a hundred lbs and is made of concrete and usually stands guard in my hosta garden. She is chomping at the bit so to speak to get out and enjoy her freedom amongst the leaves of green, gold and variegated. I love her and she loves my garden, a good match. 🙂
Oh my Kelli – a garden elephant! I’m swooning. Do take pictures so we can admire her as is fitting.
coffee usually … and dark chocolate always accompanies it nicely.
but if there is tea, I want shortbread cookies. yum
You won’t catch me arguing with either of those choices. 🙂
I’m primarily a coffee drinker, but do love a cup-o-tea from time to time. As to elephant ears (love the teapot!), our county fair will soon be upon us and you bet I will be in line for an elephant ear….maybe two!!
Have one for me. 🙂
I’m a tea drinker, and enjoy many different varieties. For some years there was a merchant at the local farmers’ market who brought packets of ten different teas (the leftovers from their big containers) and so I could have a different tea every day of the week.
Oh how fun!
