Today I’m singing the praises of a gifted practitioner, who also happens to be a friend – Denise Dee of Soulstrology. Denise is multi-talented and I’m a fan of all her work, but yesterday she read the markings on my hands and I can only say I was/am totally gobsmacked, infinitely inspired, and utterly spellbound.
I’ve always been fascinated by hands. I’ve written more about that here. But now I feel even more enraptured.
So of course in honor of today’s Artsyville’s Glue It Tuesday invitation, I had to dedicate a journal page to hand markings. Mitt maps. Palm poetry. Shaker communiqués.
This quote from Kurt Vonnegut makes me smile:
“About astrology and palmistry: they are good because they make people vivid and full of possibilities. They are communism at its best. Everybody has a birthday and almost everybody has a palm.”
So let me ask you a question: Suppose we communicate vividly with our hands, conveying our purposes and possibilities to each other when we touch palms in a handshake or perhaps placing our hands upon each other’s hearts. What would your hand say?
Do tell – you know I love to hear.
My hand…not sure what they’d tell me. I will have to try a journal page about that. Beautiful visual!
Lynn
I love that idea Lynn. A true digital dialog. 😉
Well because I am a massage therapist this is especially significant for me. Not only are things conveyed from my hands as I work, but I also pick up things from my clients through my hands, like little receivers.
I am enraptured with pictures that Alfred Stieglitz took of Georgia O’Keefe’s hands. He had a thing for the grace and story that her hands conveyed. I had my son take a similar photo of my hands inspired by Georgia. You can view it here if you would like:

I love your collage! what a fascinating depiction!!

That’s such a beautiful way to expresss it Dawn – your hands being transmitters and receivers! And oh my – what a wonderful Stieglitz-inspired photo of your hands. Thank you so much for sharing the link – I really love it.
LOL I like that mitt maps:) Great page and lovely colors. Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and leaving a kind note. Fran T
Thanks Fran. I love the GIT’s opportunity to peek at what everyone is up to.
Wonderful collage! Sophisticated choice of colours!
I do not know, what hands can tell, i only know that there is an energy flow through our hands which we can feel.
Thanks for your kind comment on my page!
Thanks for your kind words Gabriele and for stopping by. And yes, I agree, it’s delightful to pay attention to the energy running through our hands!
Wonderful page! I like to massage my children’s hands – they love it too. It’s a very special feeling…
Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog 🙂
Oh Jana, what a beautiful thing to do – massage your children’s hands! I can feel the powerful love in that, and I’m not surprised your children love it as well.
My hands would say, “Give me something to do.” I love being active and doing things. They would also say, “Isn’t it time to get out in the garden? Your garden needs you and I want to get my hands dirty.”
LOL – I love those messages Amy! And maybe you could send those hands to me as well – my garden is being pretty insistent too.
“What would your hand say?”… aawe, you have me thinking now, what would MY hand say? All kinds of messages I suppose, but first and for all my handshake would be an invitation. It would tell you that you are welcome in my world…
Oh, and I love your art journal page. It is a strong one!
That’s a beautiful message Marit. I’m truly going to be conscious of sending that one each time I shake hands.
It sounds like people would be truly honest, whether they wanted to or not. Might not be good for everyone but I think it’s a good idea! {:-Deb
Yes, I honestly believe in shining and showing our true selves. And if everyone did that – without all the effort to contort themselves into things they’re not, for whatever reasons, we could all just love each other for expressing ourselves purely – just love, no judgment. And I’m holding on to that Utopian view fiercely. 😉
I’ve had this done before and it was awesome. It’s been a while…I should pull it out. I hosted a class and several of us learned the basics of how to do it but I don’t remember much. Always fun to learn new things. I think the main message my hands would have right now is that I’m spending too much time on the computer 🙂
Oh how fun Michele! And I always find it interesting to look back at old information/reports to see if I see anything with new eyes. Nothing is ever static is it?
Your hands’ message made me smile. They do know best don’t they?
I love the idea of “Mitt Maps” or “Palm Poetry”. A journal page to explore!
I adore what you have done, love the lines and energy of the piece. Really powerful.
What would my hands say?
I would hope, upon thinking about this and envisaging that precise moment of meeting hands that mine would simply declare that I am here. Right now with the person I am connecting with.
Beautiful thoughts to think about.
What a perfectly beautiful message from your hands Natasha! How lovely it would be to be the recipient of that declaration of presence.
I love old hands as they hold so much character. Isn’t it a nice feeling when someone holds your hand. It would be nice to have a Hold a Hand day everyday.
Oh yes Ros, I could totally get behind a hold-a-hand day everyday! And I agree old hands are wonderful. I’m feeling a project coming on…
I am a massage therapist so I pay a lot of attention to my hands. When I first started my practice 28 years ago, I named my business Healing Hands. Over the years I changed the name, knowing that I don’t heal people. I share energy, caring and love with my hands with my clients and most things that I touch, come to think of it!
Lovely Anna. And I’m glad you recognize how you affect all you touch, not just your clients. Thanks for stopping by.
