I was gifted with a new set of oracle/guidance cards for Yule – Rainbow Warrior Awaken! I’ve long been a fan of the art work of Mara Berendt Friedman and these cards are lovely. The above pic is from a spread I recently did. I can tell already I’m really going to enjoy exploring this deck.
Almost always at the beginning of the new year I do a card reading – asking for guidance for the upcoming year. I often think about it as a sort of preliminary map – or perhaps like a path seen from overhead at a great distance – general markers showing, and a general sketch of the landscape. It feels like an invitation to begin the journey and something to feel my way into. Later on, further into the journey, the year, the next days, the particulars of the landscape become more apparent; but for now the gift is in the overview.
What showed up for me made me smile – the call to authentically express my truth. I love the invitation – it seems like a bit like an official cosmic nudge. So I’m going to try to keep it in mind whenever I feel myself drifting into old habits and behaviors of quiet withdrawal.
One of the the things I’d like to do more of in these blog postings is share about the treasures I find upon my path. So many people, so many things bless me. Besides just exclaiming in delight when I find them, I’m going to make a point of sharing them. I have a delicious recurring dream in which I stumble upon the most wondrous store filled with wonderful treasures, and it’s such fun poking around in there. Sometimes I see my life like that – a store full of treasures to be discovered. Maybe some of the sparkly things I enjoy will be treasures for you as well.
One of the placements that’s part of the Rainbow Warrior Awaken spread is a color card; and what came up for me was Sapphire Blue. Although the color depicted isn’t what I consider sapphire blue at all, I’ll be looking at how the color turns up for me this year. And it also made me think of Bridget Pilloud’s wonderful new year’s challenge of choosing your yearly color. Bridget is utterly charming and brilliantly intuitive, and she’s spent the past few days on her blog offering interpretations of some of the color choices people have selected. Fun!
Another fun thing you might want to check out is the upcoming Creativity Treasure Hunt teleclass series being offered by Laurel Bleadon-Maffei and Jo Anna Rothman. I played in the first round and had a wonderful time. It’s all about having fun exploring creativity in all manner of ways. One of the things that got sparked for me was a curiosity about maps and the real desire to create them. Suddenly I have a desire to draw whimsical maps of everything, including the inner workings of my mind! I’m also inspired to revisit a continuing on-again off-again project involving creating my own oracle deck. I’m moving it forward a notch in my consciousness, so we’ll see what happens with that.
What creative projects are inspiring you at the moment? What do you have in your treasure chest? Do share!
