I like the little love-message missive aspect of Valentine’s Day. And while I wish I could hand each one of you an envelope holding a sweet thought, I’ll do what I can given the constraints of a blog post.
A Valentine for You
Imagine, despite your unbearable faults and fissures,
you are still a thing of beauty, a rare creature, a snowflake,
a singular spectacular atom circumnavigating the tangled astronomy
of your life the only way you know how…

A Valentine for My Business
Michele Grace Lessirard came up with this brilliant idea of creating a valentine for your business. How fun is that?! And of course I wanted to play too. I LOVE my business. Here’s the valentine I created for it. I tucked a few secret love messages in the inside pocket of the heart.
A Valentine for One Billion Rising
For all those participating in One Billion Rising – for those all who need our help, for all those who are survivors, for all those ready for global change of what is inexcusable and intolerable – this Valentine is for you.
We are living in a time where 1 in 3 women will have experienced rape or other violence. Let us be the ones who end that now and forever.
My wish for all of us today and always:
May we each be surrounded in love and kindness. May we each spread our love and our light widely.
Happy Valentine’s Day Sweet Friends.
I love this post. The idea of making a valentine for your business is really cool and so unique; I’m going to give it a go! I’m a big fan of aspirations, and I will be using your closing wish about being surrounded by love and kindness and spreading our love widely. Beautiful thoughts for a day that is, in my opinion, too commercialized and not enough about real love.
Thanks for stopping by and saying hello Sue! And I agree making a valentine for your business is great fun, and I’m sure you’ll enjoy it as well.
I think it’s really empowering to remember we get to shape how we want to celebrate or observe things in our lives. When we step away from the over-commercialized and claim what brings us joy, not only do we have that joy for ourselves, but we’re modeling it for others who can decide what they’d like as well. All win-win in my book.
Deborah, Thank you for sending us a Valentine!
I so totally agree with you about the over commercializing of the day. The children in my class were so hyped, I doubt they will remember us talking about loving ourselves, our families, our friends.
And a plus note…the woven valentine sent to your business is a craft I have long forgotten. Thank you for the memory. I’m on my way to look up the pattern!!
It feels like quite a challenge Ruth to balance deep exploration of anything when we keep accelerating our pace as a society. I have such respect for our teachers who work within such interesting constraints. (And for the kids who have so much to navigate!) But I trust that some of your students heard your message.
And yes the woven heart was a fun remembering of a forgotten craft for me as well.
Happy Valentine’s Day to you, too! 🙂
Thanks Jennifer!
