A friend and I have been having a series of discussions about identity. It’s an ongoing dialog that we’re exploring on many levels, but the focus recently has been way people introduce themselves.
Our talks tend to be a mixture of the serious and the silly, and we recently amused ourselves with a word game of her devising.
We gave ourselves two minutes to come up with a list of words descriptive of our interests that beginning with the first letter of our first name. And then we had 3 minutes to string them all together (with additional initial-reflecting adjectives) in a statement about ourselves meant as some sort of introduction.
I’m posting my result and I challenge you to play too. And I’d love to hear your results if you’d like to share.
My name is Deborah and I’m a dedicated decipher of dreams, divinations, and dictionary definitions. I have dizzying dalliances of dubious distinction with doll-making, art dabbling, and donuts devoured on divans. I dress in diamonds of the herkimer variety, and look for dirigibles and dandelions by daylight and moon watch by dark. And I decidedly disavow dishonesty, demeaning doctrines, and duties that involve dishpan hands.
haha wow, your vocabulary is extraordinary, Deborah!
LOL – thanks Ariel. I do like wordplay!
