is for pull
I love this Rumi quote:
“Let yourself be silently drawn by the strange pull of what you really love. It will not lead you astray.”
And I love this vintage card.
It is of course meant as a Valentine’s greeting, but I delight in it all year long. For me it represents an abundance of goodness, of treasures, of things that make my heart happy. And I think we should all have a cartload of such things.
I’m not necessarily talking about material things, although heaven knows (and you probably do too) that I am a finder, and keeper, and a lover of treasures. But what I’m really talking about here, and clearly Rumi was, is creating a life that expresses what you love. Your own unique constellation of light and sparkle, oddness and fabulousity. Following your heart compass.
I feel the pull of poetry and gilded edges; messages and secret pockets; decoder rings and talismans. I‘m drawn to weaving connections and celebrating the ordinary and the extraordinary; crazy beautiful words and layers of scent. I know the tug of star gazing and moon watching and sun salutations; of mysteries and archetypes; and remembering who I truly am.
We all have our share of sadnesses, of challenges, of things not preferred. And yet, still, I am enchanted by all this life is offering.
It’s my hope you feel the same as well. And I’d love to hear what things are pulling you. Do tell. Let’s celebrate and laugh together.
I love the card and the message it sends. Beautiful post.
Thanks for stopping by Sharon.
I love that line Deborah – things not preferred … I’m going to remember that one – what a lovely way of expressing the less than perfect side of life without making it sound doom and gloom.
And of course the card is just gorgeous …. Life really is very full when we see past the negative stuff.

I’m really finding the expression “less preferred” to be a very helpful thing. It’s a very clear reminder to stay out of judgment and remember that I knowing what I don’t prefer is guidance to find what I do.
