This being the final Friday of the month means it’s time for We Are the World Blogfest, a day for promoting positive news.
Co-hosting the project this month, the 34th edition, are: Eric Lahti, Susan Scott, Dan Antion, Damyanti Biswas, and Inderpreet Kaur Uppal. Do check out their posts, along with everyone else participating, and feel free to join us here.

I love this story about photographer Dave Puente. He’s begun a project taking free “porchtraits” – photographing families from a safe distance on their porches during this time of sequestering. He says it feels like a win/win – people really like the connection and the opportunity to talk about what’s happening for them, and he, too, has a chance to connect and offer the gift of his photography.
Here’s a brief video where he talks about this project, along with a number of his photos.
I’m inspired by his initiative, and grateful to him, and everyone who is finding innovative ways to connect and share love and kindness during these times. Amidst the challenges there is still very much to celebrate and appreciate. What about you? What’s lighting your heart today? What beauty have you seen? What kindness have you noticed? Do tell – you know I love to hear.
That is surely innovative Deborah thank you for sharing this #WATWB post. Truly a win-win situation when at the heart of it is wanting to share and connect, with kindness.
Plenty of beauty all about. Beautiful clouds this morning – one formation looked like a dove with wings. This gladdened my heart 🙂
So much beauty indeed Susan. Your cloud sighting sounds wonderful, and the perfect uplifting message.
One of my neighbors did that for our development! Now I know where she got the idea!!
It’s lovely how creative ideas spread, and how wonderful for your development.
Great idea and wonderful photos. I like casual photos of families much better than ones taken all planned and perfect. Nice contribution to #WATWB.
Real moments caught in real time are so much more powerful and precious I think.
This is fabulous. I saw this on the news! 🙂
Oh great – I’m glad the story is getting circulated! It’s too feel-good not to share.
Debra, I LOVED the video the photographer created; how he brought happiness to families with his photographs. What a great example of people sharing the gifts they have after they figure out the best ways they can give. Thanks for sharing, and also for commenting on my post; I’m so glad you found the videos as poignant as I did:)
I was really touched by the video as well Lizbeth – such heart-felt emotion traveling both ways.
I’d glanced at this story, but didn’t go deep enough, so I’m glad you did. The video is heartwarming. It was very nice to meet Dave and see the value and strength of families large and small. Thanks for sharing this!
I think getting a chance to hear Dave’s side of it really lovely – it’s such a delight to see how kind and caring folks can be, and how the simplest of things can be so impactful. Thanks for stopping by JoAnna.
This is right moment for photography while we are in lock down; there are birds chirping, the roads are clean, there’s no pollution, the sky is clear and we can find beauty all around, there are generous souls volunteering and helping fight COVID 19 – I see every day those who are clearing the garbage, the person who supplies milk and the vendors who come to the door to sell vegetables, feel grateful for all these service providers, thanks for sharing the photographers story on #WATWB
I couldn’t agree more – there’s so much beauty and kindness around us, and so many people to truly appreciate and offer our thanks to.
Hi Deborah … what a brilliant idea – for their families … to have that record for their future. Also great that he’s giving them something else to think about … and to talk about … let alone bringing the community together. Clever chap … take care – Hilary
It really is a feel-good thing all around isn’t it? Take care as well Hilary.
This is amazing! Thank you for sharing!
And thanks to you Damyanti for co-hosting #WATWB and for stopping by.
Porchtraits? What a creative name and idea. It is adorable how innovative and empathetic people can be. Thank you for sharing.
Yes! There is so much wonderfulness to celebrate!
